19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his first trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

The win also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in that event previously this season.

His retrieving play style and frequent reactions on court had led commentators to question if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to create a third set.

The opponent rescued four early-game opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
