It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if never given the possibility.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was removed Australia required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as captain.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
